History

The East Nelson Congregational Church was built in about 1888. It was served by the Congregational Church in Cedar Springs until 1921 when the Congregational Church discontiued services.

The East Nelson Congregtional Church was transferred to the Cedar Springs Methodist Church in 1921 under the pastorarte of Reverend Bryon A. Hahn. Today, the East Nelson United Methodist Church is served by Pastor Herb Vanderbilt.

The addition, with parlor, kitchen, restrooms, handicap ramp and classrooms in the basement, was completed in 1984.

In 2004, the Gathering Room, Sunday School Room, Nursery, Office and storage Rooms were added to our church, for all to enjoy.

On Sept. 21, 2008 a New Addition was completed in the front part of East Nelson. The expansion to the sanctuary made more room for the Music Program. Construction was done by Wolfe Construction, Inc.

In July 2010, East Nelson grew another 14 feet on the East Side of the addition. The new space provided a meeting room, a Pastor's Office, a Secretary's office, larger gathering room, extra storage room, larger youth room and music room, and Sunday School Room.
